- Launch Messages from your desktop, dock, or Applications folder. Enter your Apple ID email address and password. If you have two-step or two-factor authentication turned on for your Apple ID, enter your verification code. Click on Messages in the Menu bar.
- Launch the Messages app on your Mac. In the Messages menu, click Preferences. In the left hand pane, click on the account you want to turn off. Uncheck the box next to Enable this account. That will stop you receiving messages from showing on your Mac and means that if you want to turn them back on again, all you have to do is check that box.
- Make sure that your iPhone is connected to a working Wi-Fi or cellular connection. If you have no signal, then you won't be able to get messages and they won't be forwarded to your Mac either. Try toggling the Wi-Fi off and back on first, as this may fix any connectivity issues. If toggling the Wi-Fi off and back on did not work, try.
- You can set the Notifications style to Alerts when you want to make sure that you do not miss any notifications from a particular App on your Mac. As you can see from the screen shot above, you can also Enable or Disable Notifications on the Lock Screen of your Mac and also choose whether or not a Lock Screen Notification should show a Message.
On Mac, open the Messages app; it will be in your Applications folder. If you’re not already logged in, Messages will prompt you to do so. At the very top left of your display, click Messages on the Menu and choose Preferences.
Apple’s Messages app on iPhone, iPad, and iPod devices is a texting lover’s dream come true. Messaging allows users to send text, photo, or video messages to keep in touch with all of their contacts and friends. Tristen, do not be hard on yourself. I also have just learned to use my MacBook Pro in the past few months. You can do it too and errors like this (usually user errors) are expected.
If you cannot get into your OS you can always reinstall. It is easy and I can walk you through it. What is volumes installme installer.app contents macos installer.
Otherwise, you need to deal with the problem in a different way. Can you get into your machine at all?
Try holding down the command and r keys and see if you can get into your Disk Utility.
